Solution Specialist - Process Design & Simulation (d/f/m)
Munich
Full-time
Permanent employee
About us
Responsibilities
As a Simulation & Integration Engineer (d/f/m), you will play a key role in qualifying automation solutions through data-driven simulations, detailed layout planning, and technical integration. You will bridge the gap between digital simulations and real-world shopfloor operations, helping validate material flows, predict system throughput, and identify potential bottlenecks before implementation.
Working closely with Sales, Product Management, and Software Engineering teams, you will help establish standardised practices for layout planning, transport processes, and simulation. Your work will support informed customer decisions and ensure our proposed automation solutions are technically feasible, efficient, and aligned with real-world operational requirements.
Your Tasks:
- Design and execute simulations to model material flows, identify bottlenecks, and validate system performance during project qualification
- Integrate AMR/AGV vehicle simulators into process models to evaluate traffic management and predict system throughput
- Plan and validate system layouts using CAD-based tools and simulation software to align digital models with real-world shopfloor conditions
- Connect software systems and physical hardware using industrial communication protocols such as MQTT and OPC-UA, including I/O signal integration
- Develop low-code prototypes using Node-RED or similar tools to configure peripherals, implement logic, and connect data flows
- Analyze customer logistics data using data science and machine learning techniques to improve predictive modeling and performance assessments
- Collaborate with Product Management, Software Engineering, and other teams to align simulation logic with system architecture and improve technical solutions
- Develop and improve the Sales Enablement tech stack, document simulation results clearly, and provide data-driven recommendations to support customer decisions
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of professional experience in Industrial Engineering, Logistics Planning, Systems Engineering, or Systems Integration, ideally within robotics or industrial automation
- Hands-on experience with simulation software, CAD-based layout planning, and AMR/AGV vehicle simulators
- Experience with low-code environments such as Node-RED and a solid foundation in data science or machine learning
- Understanding of industrial communication protocols, including MQTT and OPC-UA, and hardware interfacing through I/O signals
- Knowledge of IT system architecture and design principles for intralogistics solutions
- Familiarity with fleet management systems and communication standards for autonomous mobile robots, such as VDA 5050
Who You Are:
- Analytical and structured, with the ability to translate complex customer data into clear, visual, and actionable recommendations
- A strong communicator who can explain technical findings and facilitate discussions with different stakeholders
- Organized and detail-oriented, with strong coordination and problem-solving skills
- Proactive and accountable, taking ownership of tasks and driving continuous improvement
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity while helping teams maintain focus and alignment
- Motivated to bridge simulation, software, and physical automation to deliver practical customer value
We offer
- We are a diverse, global team of 100+ creative thinkers, algorithmic brains, makers, movers, and shakers.
- Our approach comes from a continuous cycle: assemble, weld, code, test, deploy or delete, and repeat. That is how we deliver innovative solutions to tackle the biggest intralogistics challenges.
- You will find our tech space nestled within the eastern region of Munich. It serves as a hub for our team's creativity and collaboration, featuring state-of-the-art meeting rooms, a fully-equipped electronics lab, and a spacious robotics testing area. Our team also enjoys a variety of social spaces, all within the modern infrastructure of the renowned Neue Balan campus.
- We are more than just a workplace: we are a community. We encourage connection and affiliation through a range of activities: hiking trips, running events, ping pong tournaments, and quiz nights — there is something for everyone.
- We also believe that work should be rewarding in more ways than just one. That is why we offer competitive salaries and benefits like EGYM Wellpass, language courses, Jobrad, and flexible working hours.
- If you are moving to join our team, we provide relocation and visa support to help make the transition as smooth as possible.
Diversity and Inclusion
We are an equal opportunity employer and highly value diversity and inclusivity, which we see as strengths. While we are making progress, we are not yet where we want to be. Still, we believe in the power of a diverse workforce and welcome applicants of all genders, ethnicities, ages, national origins, sexual orientations, cultures, and educational backgrounds. Our goal is to create a work culture where everyone feels equally heard and included.
